Removing stamps from paper/postimerkkien irroittaminen paperista

For a long time I've used to cut off from envelopes any nice stamps I've seen and saved them, but I think stamps look nicer when they are off paper. So I tried to remove the stamps' stick / remove the stamps off the paper properly! Now I am going to show my way dong it^^

Olen keräillyt ja leikellyt kauniita postimerkkejä kirjekuorista jo kauan aikaa, mutta mielestäni postimerkit näyttävät kivemmalta ilman paperia. Päätin testata postimerkkien irroittamista paperista, ja nyt aion näyttää oman tapani, miten tein sen^^

First try!

I've heard that philatelists(post stamp collectors) remove the stick by steaming them, so I tried that first.

Ensimmäinen yritys!

Olen kuullut, että filatelistit(postimerkkikeräilijät) poistavat merkit paperista höyryttämällä, joten testasin sitä siis ensimmäiseksi.

Like a small post stamp factory :D I'm happy it was weekend so I could have this project in peace without someone coming into the kitchen and disturb me by cooking!! (I live in a dormitory)

Ihan kuin pieni postimekkitehdas! :D Onneksi oli viikonloppu, niin sain rauhassa häärätä tämän projektin kimpussa ilman, että joku tulee häiritsemään tekemällä ruokaa (asun siis asuntolassa niin keittiö on yhteinen meille kaikille)

streaming streaming~!

Soon I and my friend ,who helped me, found out that it takes hella lot time to stream all the stamps!! We stood in the kitchen like hours!! I wasn't sure whether we did the streaming right or not.. *should have checked on google first*

I wasn't patient enough to keep continuing, so I decided to stop for that day and start cooking rice instead lololl.

Hyvin pian huomattiin kaverini kanssa, että me ollaan siinä höyryttelemässä niitä postimerkkejä vielä keskellä yötä jos sama meno jatkuisi, oli sen verran hidasta hommaa. Ei edes oltu varmoja käytettiinkö oikeaa taktiikkaa. Olisi pitänny tarkastaa netistä ekana =D

En ollut tarpeeksi kärsivällinen, joten lopetin hommat siltä illalta ja päätin alkaa keittää riisiä sen sijaan :D

Shouldn't have rushed..I just wanted this project over and done with as soon as possible so I tried to rip off the stamp from paper while streaming it. Don't do it! Fortunately I didn't try the streaming method with my very favorite stamps, so I wasn't too bowed down with grief :D

Ei olisi pitänyt kiirehtiä..halusin homman alta pois mahodllisimman nopeasti, niin yritin hennosti repiä paperia postimerkeistä höyryttämisen aikana. En suosittele! Onneksi en testanut höyryttämistä mun parhailla merkeillä, niin en ollut ihan niin murheen murtama :D

Second try!

I studied the topic a little more, and found out that the stick can be removed by dissolving in water. It sounded a bit suspicious because my common sense says that if I put a stamp in water, it must get ruined, right? But how wrong I was!

Tutkin asiaa vielä vähän, ja sain tietää, että postimerkin liimapinta voidaan lioittaa vedessä. Ensiksi ajattelin, että kuulostaa vähän epäilyttävältä, koska luulisi, että merkki menee pilalle lilluessa vedässä, vai mitä? Noh, se oli väärä olettamus!

There they are~ Happily dissolving. This way is very fast and simple, and zero changes to fail! Just take a bowl full of warm water and put your stamps in it. Let them float in there until the stamp separates from the paper. (It takes about a few minutes, depending on whether the stamp is sticky stamp(sticker stamp) or a 'traditional' one.)

Siellä ne uiskentelee :D Tämä tapa on tosi helppo ja nopea, eikä pysty mitenkään epäonnistumaan. Laita kulhoon lämmintä vettä ja laita merkit liukenemaan niin kauaksi aikaa kunnes paperi irtoaa merkistä. (Kestää muutamia minuutteja, riippuen onko tarramerkki vai 'perinteinen'.)

After you've removed the stamps from paper, put the stamps onto a sheet of paper to dry off and pile a few books on it (so that the stamps will not curl up while drying) Let them dry there for a day or two and you're ready! Remember to make sure that no stick is left in the stamp, otherwise the stamp can be stuck in the paper when drying.

Sen jälkeen, kun kaikki merkit on liuoitettu, asettele ne paperille kuivumaan ja kokoa niiden päälle kasa kirjoja, jotta merkit eivät käpristy kuivuessaan. Kuivuminen kestää n. 1-2 päivää. Muista tarkastaa, ettei postimerkkeihin ole jäänyt liimaa, koska muuten ne voivat liimautua paperiin kiinni kuivuessaan.

I truly advise you not to use the streaming method, especially if you're an impatient person. It is time-taking and can easily ruin all your stamps.

En suosittele käyttämään höyrytyskeinoa, varsinkaan, jos on kärsimätön ihminen. Höyryttäminen vie rutkasti aikaa ja kaikenlisäksi pilaa helposti postimerkit.

Toivon, että tästä merkinnästä voisi olla joskus apua jollekkin, joka ei ole oikein varma, miten postimerkit saa kätevästi paperista pois. 

Miten te irrotette merkit paperista, vai annatteko te vain niiden olla?
